As the need for certified nursing assistants continues to grow across the United States and the need for CNAs in Georgia is on the rise and growing fast. Gaining certification as a CNA is a good way to quickly earn a place in the medical profession and working as a CNA will open doors for future career advancement. The ease of access to training, low costs involved in living in the state, and amount of job openings for CNAs all make Georgia an excellent place to become a certified CNA.

In Georgia there are many different locations across the state that offers state-approved training programs. Programs are available at nursing homes, care agencies, high schools, technical colleges, and community colleges. State approved nurse aid programs in Georgia must be made up of a minimum of 85 hours spent in classroom learning and instruction and clinical experiences. Classroom learning is made up of a variety of basic health and nutrition knowledge, first aid training, and other patient care fundamentals. Clinical experiences must be supervised be a registered nurse. Different programs divide the time in the classroom and clinical locations in various ways, but a student must complete minimum of 85 hours between the two areas.

After completing CNA training in Georgia, students are then allowed to take the state certification examination. The exam is made up of two parts: a written part with multiple choice questions testing general medical knowledge and basic reading comprehension and a skills competency part. The skills competency portion of the exam requires test takers to demonstrate that they can perform randomly selected tasks for an examiner.

Once an individual has successfully completed the state certification exam they are then certified to work as CNAs. Their name will be placed on the Georgia Nursing Assistant Aide Registry which means they have met the state standards to work in healthcare facilities.
